How do events make people happy?

The annual World Happiness Report 2026 reminds us that people measure experiences emotionally, not only practically. The same is true for corporate meetings and events.

Event participants might remember the strategy, the launch, or the keynote. But they will remember whether they felt welcomed, included, energised, inspired, or connected.

That is one reason we use the GREAT framework at Vantage.

GREAT events help people:
Grow - as a person, a team or a business
Reflect - on personal and collective goals
Experience - new ways to learn and interact
Act - on solutions and innovations
Tell stories - to customers and colleagues

Because when events create positive human experiences, they create stronger business outcomes too.

We've also been revisiting ideas from Will Guidara’s book Unreasonable Hospitality. One thought stood out: memorable experiences are rarely built only on scale, budget, or production value.

Often, it is the small moments people carry with them.

An ice lolly handed out on a hot day. A handwritten note. A perfectly timed coffee. Someone remembering your name. A moment of calm in an otherwise intense schedule.

They're all small details but have a big emotional impact.

Because GREAT events are not only about information, efficiency, or spectacle. They are also about creating moments where people feel genuinely happy to be there.
