From measuring climate impact today to the reality in 2055

Measuring climate impact is one thing.
Being confronted with what that reality might look like in 2055 is another.

At the current exhibition at the Novartis Pavillon, that shift happens quickly. Not through more data, but through people.

Stepping away from the numbers

In the middle of preparing our next Greenly audit, Lisa, our Client Services Director, stepped away from the detail to visit Changing Climate, Shared Future in Basel. What she experienced was an exhibition that was relevant and difficult to forget.

Fast forward to 2055

The exhibition introduces four individuals, talking in 2055, and each sharing their messages, describing their lives and reaching out for help.

What unfolds is a set of possible futures shaped by the decisions being made today. These futures are uncomfortable, confronting and impossible to ignore.

“Measuring impact is one thing, but being confronted with our future reality is another.”

A final thought

We spend a lot of time measuring impact. We work with Greenly, Ecovadis, SBTi and Great Place To Work, and that matters.

"But moments like this are a reminder: impact is not only measured. It is felt. And once it is felt, it becomes much harder to ignore."
